PM: Vietnam hopes Samsung will expand tech investment

Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh has spoken highly of the Samsung Group’s rapid implementation of projects, especially the operation of the Samsung R&D Center Vietnam, which contributes to Vietnam’s economic restructuring and development through boosting exports, developing the support industry, and creating jobs, the Government News has reported.

At a reception for Samsung’s visiting Chief Financial Officer, Park Hark Kyu, on October 31, the Prime Minister congratulated Samsung Vietnam on its business results in the first nine months of this year, when it posted revenue of over $48 billion and export turnover of nearly $42 billion, making a significant contribution to Vietnam’s trade value.

He told his guest that Vietnam attaches importance to improving its business environment and commits to protecting foreign enterprises’ legal and legitimate interests, and creates favorable conditions for them, including South Korean enterprises and Samsung in particular, to operate stably, efficiently, and long term in Vietnam.

The Prime Minister suggested that it continue expanding its investment in high technology, electronics, semiconductors, digital transformation, green growth, and the circular economy, contributing to quality human resources training in Vietnam.

Speaking highly of the active and effective support coming from Vietnam, which helps Samsung overcome the difficulties and challenges, Mr. Kyu hopes Vietnam will continue to improve its business environment.

He said Samsung regards Vietnam as a key global location and wants to retain its position as the largest FDI investor in the country.

Samsung commits to accompanying Vietnam and making every effort to further contribute to the country’s socio-economic development.
