Agricultural production enjoyed positive results in the first five months of 2024, particularly fisheries output and rice cultivation, according to the General Statistics Office (GSO).
Total fisheries output was estimated at over 3.5 million tons, a year-on-year rise of 2.6%, including over 2.5 million tons of fish, up 2.4%; 408,500 tons of shrimp, soaring 4.3%; and more than 536,000 tons of other seafood, surging 2.2%.
Regarding rice cultivation, the whole country had grown over 2.9 million ha of paddy rice.
Meanwhile, some 98,200 ha of forest were planted during the five-month period, up 1.3% year-on-year. Timber exploitation reached over 7.4 million cubic meters, a year-on-year growth of 6.6%.
