The Petrovietnam Power Corporation (PV Power) has proposed building a Clean Energy Production Complex in south-central Ninh Thuan province with an investment of $3.98 billion, the Cong Thuong (Industry and Trade) online newspaper has reported.
The Lam Son complex will consist of three components: a 1,440 MW pumped-storage hydropower plant with six units; a 3,500 MWp solar power project; and a 350 MW Battery Energy Storage System (BESS).
The complex's total electricity output is expected to reach 5.87 billion kWh per year.
The project commands around 184.2 ha for the pumped-storage hydropower plant and 2,000 ha for the solar power project.
If approved, the project investor will begin implementation in 2026 and have it operational by the end of 2030.
The provincial authorities have agreed for PV Power to make a feasibility study for the project.
