At the Government’s regular press briefing for October, held in Hanoi on November 4, Minister and Chairman of the Government Office Dang Xuan Phong said that Vietnam’s socio-economic performance in October and the first ten months of the year continued to record many positive results, while development resources were further unlocked.
However, the Government assessed that achieving economic growth of more than 12.5% in the fourth quarter would be a major challenge. Average CPI in the first ten months rose 4.57%, exceeding the full-year target of around 4.5%, thereby increasing pressure on inflation control efforts.
In addition, lending interest rates remain relatively high, while public investment disbursement has been slow in several ministries, sectors, and localities. Greater efforts are also needed to promote science and technology, innovation, and digital transformation. Air pollution, urban flooding, and traffic congestion have yet to be comprehensively addressed.
Earlier on the same day, the Government's regular October meeting, chaired by Prime Minister Le Minh Hung, reviewed progress in socio-economic development, public investment disbursement, institutional reform, science and technology, innovation, and digital transformation.
According to Minister Phong, PM Hung concluded that the final two months of the year would be crucial to achieving the country's 2026 socio-economic development goals.
