The Quang Tri Economic Zone Management Board in the central province of the same name is preparing an overall adjustment to the detailed zoning plan for the area surrounding the Lao Bao International Border Gate in the Lao Bao Special Economic and Trade Area, covering approximately 49.2 hectares.
Of the total area, about 30 hectares have already been covered by detailed planning, while the Vsico Quang Tri Inland Container Depot (ICD) occupies 8.58 hectares and the remaining area covers approximately 10.62 hectares.
The planning adjustment is expected to provide a basis for reorganising development space and create additional room for logistics infrastructure projects around the border gate.
One project currently under development is the Vsico Quang Tri Inland Container Depot, invested in by Vsico Maritime JSC, with total capital of VND236.6 billion (approximately $9 million). The project has a designed capacity of between 50,000 and 150,000 TEUs per year.
Meanwhile, Viettel Post JSC has proposed developing the Lao Bao Smart Logistics Centre on an estimated area of approximately 21.87 hectares.
The projects are expected to strengthen logistics infrastructure and improve the capacity for cargo handling and transit through the Lao Bao border gate, supporting trade connectivity between Quang Tri, neighbouring markets and the wider regional logistics network.
