Central Quang Tri province targets undertaking and speeding up progress of eight key projects in 2023.
Projects include the My Thuy wharf area, Quang Tri Airport, the Cam Lo - Lao Bao Expressway, National Highway No. 15D connecting My Thuy Beach with the La Hay international border gate, Quang Tri Industrial Park, the Lao Bao - Dansava trade and economic zone, and large-scale energy projects in its southeastern economic zone.
Among ongoing projects, the My Thuy wharf area in Hai Lang district has investment of VND14.2 trillion ($603 million). The 685 ha project consists of ten wharves and will be capable of berthing vessels of up to 100,000 tons.
Another key project is the Quang Tri Industrial Park, also in Hai Lang district. On 500 ha, it will cost over VND2 trillion ($88 million), with the first phase, covering 100 ha, to be built in the 2021-2025 period. The industrial park is close to numerous major traffic routes, such as National Highway No. 1, National Highway No. 15D, the North - South Expressway, the North - South railway, the My Thuy deepwater sea port, and the La Hai and Lao Bao international border gates.
The province is determined to complete the necessary procedures this year to begin construction of Quang Tri Airport, which is to be operational by 2025. Costing some VND5.8 trillion ($246 million) and covering 316 ha, the airport is expected to cater to 1 million passengers and handle 3,100 tons of cargo annually.
