Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh and President of Romania’s Chamber of Deputies Alfred Simonis agreed to encourage Romanian businesses to enhance their investment into Vietnam, particularly in fields where Romania possesses strengths, such as information technology, oil refining, food processing, and renewable energy. The agreement came at their meeting on January 22 as part of the Prime Minister’s official visit to the European country.
They also agreed to continue implementing existing economic cooperative mechanisms.
They applauded the development of bilateral cooperation in economy and trade over recent years despite the negative impact of the pandemic, posting impressive growth in two-way trade turnover.
Prime Minister Chinh emphasized that Vietnam values and hopes to enhance relations with traditional partners in Central and Eastern Europe, with Romania being among the top priorities.
Mr. Simonis affirmed that Romania considers Vietnam its most important partner in Southeast Asia, and wants to develop cooperation in all fields.
He proposed the two sides coordinate closely to implement agreements reached during the Prime Minister’s visit, and to tap potential to further boost cooperation between the two countries in fields such as education and training, labor, and tourism.
