The beach city of Sam Son in north-central Thanh Hoa province welcomed 5.3 million visitors in the first half of the year, posting revenue of over VND9.16 trillion ($386 million), according to the local People’s Committee.
This growth contributed to putting Thanh Hoa in fourth place in the country in terms of tourist numbers and revenue in the six-month period.
The Committee also reported that nearly 14 million tourists have visited Sam Son in the 2021-2023 period, generating revenue of nearly VND25 trillion ($1.05 billion).
Vice Chairman of the Committee Bui Quoc Dat said tourism has been defined as the key economic sector in the city. Measures have been taken to improve human resources training and calls made for investors to develop infrastructure.
Over the past two years, Sam Son has invested over VND24 trillion ($1.01 billion) in developing tourism infrastructure, including major projects such as building a coastal square, ecological resorts, an urban tourism area, and a commercial center.
