Seafood exports hit $4.4 bln in 1H

Vietnam’s seafood exports earned over $4.4 billion in the first six months of the year, marking a significant growth of 7% compared to the same period of 2023, according to the Vietnam Association of Seafood Exporters and Producers (VASEP).

In June alone, seafood export revenue was estimated at $875 million, a year-on-year rise of 14%, marking the highest monthly growth rate so far this year.

Exports of most key products in the first half  that recorded high growth compared to the same period last year, included shrimp with export value of over $1.6 billion, up 7%; tra fish $922 million, 6%; tuna $477 million, 25%.

The US and China remained Vietnam's largest seafood export markets,  with an export revenue of $733 million and $766 million, a year-on-year rise of 9% and 7%, respectively.

Seafood exports to EU in June sharply increased by 40% year-on-year, the highest growth rate among Vietnam's export markets. In the first half, export turnover to this region reached $513 million, up 12% year-on-year.

VASEP forecasted that total export value of 2024 is expected to reach nearly $10 billion.
