The Ministry of Construction has asked relevant agencies to study and provide opinions on a proposal to expand the nearly 23-kilometre My Thuan–Can Tho Expressway from four to six lanes under a public-private partnership (PPP) model.
The proposal was submitted by Saigon–My Thuan Expressway BOT Co., Ltd., which has recommended expanding the entire 23-kilometre route from its current four limited lanes, with a roadbed width of 17 metres, to six full lanes with a roadbed width of 32.25 metres.
The project would begin at Km107+363.08 in Tan Ngai Ward, Vinh Long Province, and end at the Cha Va interchange, where it connects with National Highway 1 and the proposed Can Tho 2 Bridge, in Binh Minh Ward, Vinh Long Province.
The proposed expansion is aimed at increasing the expressway’s traffic capacity and improving connectivity along the strategic transport corridor linking Ho Chi Minh City with the Mekong Delta, which has experienced growing demand for passenger and freight transport.
