State President Vo Van Thuong hosted a banquet for visiting US President Joe Biden in Hanoi on September 11.
He said he believes that the Vietnam-US Comprehensive Strategic Partnership for peace, cooperation, and sustainable development will grow strongly and practically, bringing practical benefits to people in both countries and significantly contributing to peace, friendship, cooperation, and sustainable development in the region and the world.
Over the past 50 years or so, the two sides have witnessed many important events and seen the strongest-ever development, with outstanding achievements in cooperative areas such as economy - trade - investment, education and training, dialogue mechanisms, and coordination in other fields, he said.
He thanked agencies, organizations, and individuals from the two countries, over many generations, for their continuous efforts to nurture and develop Vietnam - US relations.
President Biden spoke highly of efforts in utilizing the potential between the two countries, emphasizing that there are major opportunities for the prosperity of both peoples.
He stressed that the two countries have established a Comprehensive Strategic Partnership for peace, cooperation, and sustainable development to move forward together, cope with challenges, and embrace the future.
