The national carrier’s new direct international route will start from from March 30, connecting Ho Chi Minh City's Tan Sơn Nhat airport to the world's largest airport.
The T&Y SuperPortTM Company - a joint venture between the T&T Group and Singapore’s YCH Group - signed a memorandum of cooperation with Vietnam Airlines and Vietnam Railways (VNR) in Hanoi on August 12 to promote and develop Vietnam’s logistics sector and improve freight transport capacity between Vietnam and elsewhere.

The consolidated financial statements of Vietnam Airlines recorded a loss of VND2.7 trillion ($116.22 million) in the first quarter of 2022, down 34 per cent compared to the first quarter of 2021. However, the national flag carrier’s equity has also become negative after nine consecutive quarters of losses. As of the end of March, equity was negative VND2.16 trillion ($92.97 million) and accumulated losses nearly VND24.6 trillion ($1.06 billion).
The Ministry of Transport (MoT) has approved a proposal from Vietnam Airlines to conduct 16 flights of passengers with “vaccine passports” from November to January. This will meet demand among Vietnamese citizens wanting to return home and will help the national flag carrier overcome the difficulties from the pandemic.
