Initiated by Viet Nam, the Forum was designed to create an open, inclusive and forward-looking space for leaders, scholars and business representatives to discuss strategic issues facing ASEAN and the region, according to the Foreign Ministry’s Spokesperson.
As of May 7, total public investment disbursement reaching VND153.9 trillion (approximately $5.9 billion), equivalent to 15.2% of the annual plan assigned by the Prime Minister.
Public investment has a crucial role to play in technological development, particularly in fields where private capital is reluctant to become involved initially.
The country’s total overseas investment capital in the period included $691.1 million pledged for 74 newly licensed projects, representing a 2.6-fold increase compared to the same period last year.
At a working session with the Ministry of Foreign Affairs on May 11, Prime Minister Le Minh Hung underlined that the 14th National Party Congress identified promoting foreign affairs and international integration as a “regular and key task”, reflecting a major shift in strategic thinking and the Party’s high regard for diplomacy.
