Authorities in north-central Nghe An province have agreed to increase the investment capital of the Thai-based Runergy PV Technology Co. Ltd in a factory in Hoang Mai commune to $440 million from $293 million.
The factory specializes in producing silicon rods and semiconductor platters, the Dau Tu (Investment) online newspaper has reported.
Covering 286,062 sq m at the Hoang Mai 1 Industrial Park, the plant has an initial design capacity of 14,635 tons of silicon rods and 995 million 182-mm semiconductor platters a year.
With the increased investment, it will be capable of producing 38,890 tons of silicon rods and 2.51 billion semiconductor platters, or 28,140 tons annually.
Construction of the factory is scheduled to take place between June and October this year. Upon completion, it will begin trial production in November. It will then be put into full operations next June.
