The People’s Committee of Thanh Hoa province in Central Vietnam has officially approved the investment policy for a centralized waste treatment facility in Sao Vang Commune.
Covering nearly 19 ha, the project has a total estimated investment of nearly VND1.27 trillion (over $48.3 million).
Designed to process 1,000 tons of waste per day, the facility will primarily handle household waste, along with a share of non-hazardous industrial solid waste. It will employ modern waste-to-energy incineration technology, significantly reducing the volume of waste requiring landfill.
The heat generated during incineration will be used to produce electricity, with a designed capacity of 12 MW to be supplied to the national grid.
In addition to treating waste, the plant is expected to generate revenue from electricity sales and recycled material recovery.
The investor will be selected via a public and transparent bidding process, and the winning bidder must self-finance the entire project using legitimate capital.
The project will operate for 50 years, beginning on the date the land is formally handed over or leased to the investor. The implementation and construction period is capped at four years from the date of bid approval.
The facility will incorporate advanced processing technology meeting international standards, ensuring high efficiency and low emissions.
