Three new bridges will be built connecting Ho Chi Minh City and the Mekong Delta’s Long An and Tien Giang provinces, according to the Long An Provincial Department of Transport.

They are part of National Road No. 827E in Long An.

Total investment is estimated at nearly VND4.8 trillion ($202 million), of which over VND4 trillion ($168 million) will be sourced from official development assistance (ODA) loans.

The bridge crossing the Can Giuoc River will be 2.7 km long and 14 meters wide. The two others, crossing the Vam Co Dong and Vam Co Tay Rivers, will both be 6 km long and 13 meters wide.

Long An is completing related procedures for submission to the government shortly.

The project is scheduled to kick off in late 2024.

The government recently issued a resolution allowing the mobilization of ODA loans totaling $2.53 billion to implement 16 ODA infrastructure projects in the Mekong Delta, including the construction of these three bridges.
