Shipments of tra fish are expected to improve over the remaining months of the year after export value fell substantially in the first half, according to the Vietnam Seafood Exporters and Producers (VASEP).
Its figures reveal that tra fish exports earned $143 million in the period, down 33 per cent year-on-year.
Exports to key markets such as China and Hong Kong (China) in April were down 66 per cent year-on-year, then 30 per cent in May and 15 per cent in June.
Those to the US have also been recovering gradually. In May, the export value of tra fish fell 53 per cent year-on-year after tumbling 66 per cent in April.
VASEP has forecast that exports will improve in the months to come due to increasing demand for holidays together with low inventories.
