The Ministry of Transport disbursed over VND10.7 trillion ($447 million) in public investment capital in the opening two months of 2023, 4.5 times higher than in the same period last year.

Public investment assigned to the transport ministry in 2023 is the largest ever, totaling VND94.161 trillion (nearly $4 billion).

The ministry completed procedures and began construction of two projects in February: upgrading the Hanoi-Vinh section of the Hanoi-Ho Chi Minh City railway line, and upgrading the Cai Mep-Thi Vai marine navigation channel.

It will coordinate with localities this month to address obstacles and complete procedures to soon kick off construction of three expressways and two ring roads by June 30. The ministry will also ask relevant agencies to speed up progress in three sub-projects of the North-South Expressway and complete them before April 30.
