The Ministry of Transport (MoT) has submitted to the government for approval a proposal on adjusting the investment capital required for the construction of Rach Mieu Bridge 2, spanning the Tien River and linking the Mekong Delta’s Tien Giang and Ben Tre provinces.
Under the ministry’s proposal, investment will be increased by VND1.63 trillion ($66.6 million) to VND6.8 trillion ($283 million) in total.
Including approach roads, the project stretches 17.6 km and will have six lanes and a speed limit of 80 km/h.
The need for additional capital stems from a rise in land area in need of site clearance, with a rising number of affected households and higher compensation and other costs.
The MoT has also sought permission to push completion back to 2026 from the previous 2025.
