Two highway projects linking Mekong Delta provinces open to traffic

Construction of a 14-km bypass of National Highway No. 1 crossing Ca Mau city in southernmost Ca Mau province has been completed and opened to traffic on December 10, according to the Ministry of Transport.

Construction began in January 2022 with total investment capital of VND1.725 trillion ($71 million).

The bypass has a roadbed width of 12 meters and a speed limit of 80 kph.

Earlier, upgrades to a section of National Highway No. 1 connecting the Mekong Delta’s Hau Giang and Soc Trang provinces were completed and put into use. The section has a total length of nearly 20 km.

The highway was expanded to a roadbed width of 20 meters, with a speed limit of 80 kph.

Total investment was over VND1.68 trillion ($70 million), sourced from the State budget.
