Vietnam’s unemployment rate among working-age population in the third quarter of this year was estimated at 2.24%, equivalent to 1.05 million people, according to the General Statistics Office (GSO).
The figure dropped by 22,200 compared to the previous quarter and 24,300 year-on-year.
The unemployment rate in urban areas remained below 3%.
The GSO said the higher number of businesses joining the market compared to the number of enterprises withdrawing from the market, together with import and export growth, contributed to reducing the unemployment rate in the third quarter.
Overall, in the first nine months of the year, some 1.06 million people were unemployed or 2.26%, down 0.02 percentage points year-on-year.
