Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh has urged ministries, agencies and localities to speed up efforts to have 100,000 social housing units built by the end of 2025.

Speaking at a nationwide teleconference in Hanoi on August 16 to review progress in implementing social housing projects in the first seven months of the year, the PM asked for the immediate enforcement of Resolution No. 201, which pilots special mechanisms for social housing development.

The Government leader stressed the need to streamline administrative procedures and address existing difficulties already resolved under the resolution.

He instructed localities to urgently review and allocate land fund for social houses.

The Prime Minister also agreed to review and revise regulations on income thresholds for buyers, their eligibility criteria, and the establishment of a social housing fund.

Under Decision No. 444/QD-TTg, issued on February 27, 2025, localities are tasked with developing 995,445 social housing units during 2025–2030, including 100,275 units this year.

From January to July 2025, 36,962 units have been   completed, equivalent to 37% of the annual plan. Another 36,700 units are expected to be finished by year-end, raising the total to 73,671 (73% of the target). Meanwhile, 127,261 units remain under construction and will be delivered in the following years.
