The unemployment rate in Ho Chi Minh City in the first five months of 2024 dropped 9% compared to the same period last year, according to the municipal Department of Labors, Invalids and Social Affairs.
During the period, 138,135 people found jobs, up 1.33% year-on-year.
Meanwhile, 62,004 new positions were created, a year-on-year rise of 1.98%.
The HCM City Employment Services Center organized 21 job transaction sessions, providing job consultancy for 91,000 laborers and introducing jobs to 8,568 others.
The city also hosted many activities to connect labor supply and demand, helping many workers to find jobs.
In the five-month period, the HCM City Employment Service Center received over 59,000 people submitting dossiers to receive unemployment benefits, down 9% year-on-year.
