The Ministry of Transport in cooperation with authorities in central Quang Nam province held a ceremony on March 7 to kick off a project upgrading National Highway No. 14E, with total capital estimated at nearly VND1.85 trillion ($78 million) from the State budget.
The highway was built ten years ago and is now in disrepair.
Crossing Thang Binh, Hiep Duc, and Phuoc Son districts, the upgrades will improve traffic flows between cities and provinces in the central region and central highlands, thus contributing to boosting socio-economic development.
The upgrades are expected to be completed in 2025.
The project follows a master plan on developing transport infrastructure in the key central economic zone to 2030.
Speaking at the breaking ground ceremony, Minister of Transport Nguyen Van Thang asked relevant agencies and contractors to focus all resources and take appropriate measures to ensure safety, quality, and project progress.
