At the 2024 Vietnam-Korea Digital Cooperation Forum held in Hanoi on November 21, South Korean Consul General in Vietnam, Jang Ho Seung, highlighted the potential for both countries to cooperate in building core digital infrastructure, data centers, and AI-compatible tech ecosystems.
The forum, themed "Vietnam-Korea: Partners towards the AI era," served as a platform to discuss future collaborative development in the digital age.
Consul General Jang Ho Seung proposed that Vietnam and South Korea collaborate in developing crucial digital infrastructure, including AI, next-generation networks, AI semiconductors, and data centers
He emphasized the importance of both nations taking a pioneering role in establishing legal and institutional frameworks to support digitalization and artificial intelligence.
Deputy Minister of Information and Communications Phan Tam, speaking at the forum's opening, noted the shared opportunities and commonalities between Vietnam and South Korea, particularly in the fields of digital government development and digital human resources.
He highlighted recent cooperation activities, including human resource training, capacity building for Vietnamese agencies, and consultations on drafting the Law on Electronic Transactions and the Law on the Digital Technology Industry. The Vietnam-Korea ITCP project was also mentioned as a key initiative.
Since its inception in 2021 as the Korea-Vietnam Digital Transformation Forum, the event has played a significant role in strengthening digital cooperation between the two countries.
