The Vietnam - US Business Summit 2026 was held by the Vietnam Chamber of Commerce and Industry (VCCI), the American Chamber of Commerce in Vietnam (AmCham Vietnam) and the US Chamber of Commerce on October 14 in Hanoi as Vietnam and the US continue to advance their strategic vision for the Comprehensive Strategic Partnership, with a shared commitment to peace, cooperation and sustainable development.
The Vietnam - US economic relations have continued to grow strongly in recent years. Bilateral trade has recorded robust growth, reaching $157.83 billion in the first nine months of 2026, up 24.5 per cent year-on-year. US companies contribute not only capital, technology and advanced management expertise, but also create opportunities for cooperation, supply chain integration and capacity-building for Vietnamese businesses.
Under the theme “A New Era of Growth: Deepening the Vietnam – US Economic Partnership,” the Summit focused on three key areas: the digital economy and the next wave of innovation; powering Vietnam’s economy and commitment to Vietnam: manufacturing, investment and growth.
Delivering a keynote address at the conference, Standing Deputy Prime Minister Pham Gia Tuc outlined five key achievements in the Vietnam-US relations, focusing on enhancing dialogue and strengthening trust; refining cooperation frameworks; deepening economic ties; expanding technological cooperation; and aligning bilateral cooperation with regional and global efforts.
The Standing Deputy Prime Minister also outlined five priority areas of cooperation between the two countries for the coming period: high technology, specifically semiconductors, artificial intelligence, and data; clean energy and the green transition; sustainable supply chain development; finance, innovation, and startups; and education and high-quality human resource training.
To realize this goal and strategic direction, Standing Deputy Prime Minister Pham Gia Tuc called for concerted efforts from both the government and the business community.
The Standing Deputy Prime Minister emphasized the Vietnamese Government's commitment to accelerating institutional reform and refining the investment and business environment to make it more transparent, stable, predictable, and favorable for investors. This approach places citizens and businesses at the center and uses effectiveness and practical outcomes as the benchmarks for policies and actions; ministries, sectors, and localities must act more decisively, ensuring that commitments are matched by actions, results are the measure of success, and the satisfaction of citizens and businesses serves as the criterion for evaluation.
"The Vietnamese Government regards the success of businesses as its own, and we view the difficulties and obstacles faced by enterprises as issues that the Government, ministries, sectors, and localities must prioritize resolving promptly in the near future," the Standing Deputy Prime Minister affirmed.
Deputy Minister of Industry and Trade Truong Thanh Hoai also spoke highly of the cooperation opportunities between Vietnam and the United States. According to the Deputy Minister, Vietnam possesses strengths in productivity, an abundant and young workforce, and the capacity to participate in international supply chains. Meanwhile, the United States holds advantages in core technologies, energy, finance, innovation, and modern industrial management.
Mr. Hoai expressed his hope that both sides would continue to maintain policy dialogue, facilitate trade and investment, and expand imports of products where the US excels and Vietnam has demand—particularly in the areas of energy, machinery, equipment, high-quality technology, and raw materials for production. “The Ministry of Industry and Trade consistently advocates for the development of the Vietnam-US economic and trade relations in a manner that is stable, balanced, mutually beneficial, and sustainable,” he added.
Assessing the prospects for the Vietnam-US cooperation in the coming period, VCCI Vice President Nguyen Quang Vinh noted that there remains significant untapped potential for collaboration. To foster investment cooperation between the two nations, VCCI is committed to maintaining close coordination with AmCham Vietnam, while supporting the business communities of both countries in identifying opportunities, resolving challenges, and driving the development of economic and trade relations in a substantive, balanced, and sustainable manner.
Regarding the next phase of the US-Vietnam economic partnership, US Ambassador to Vietnam, H.E. Ms. Jennifer Wicks, emphasized that US businesses, backed by the US Government, stand ready to play a pivotal role in collaborating with Vietnam to realize the country's goals.
"US enterprises are eager to pursue new opportunities in Vietnam and will do so with confidence provided the legal framework creates favorable conditions for success," she noted. "Confidence paves the way for investment, and such confidence hinges on regulations that are clear, predictable, and formulated through consultation with the very stakeholders required to comply with them."
Mr. Mark Gillin, Chairman of the National Board of Governors of AmCham Vietnam, believes that the next phase of the bilateral relationship will depend heavily on the results of actual implementation.
“The opportunities are clear. U.S. businesses are eager to invest, expand operations, and build long-term partnerships in Vietnam," he said. "The next phase now hinges on execution, including stable and predictable regulations, reliable infrastructure, access to energy and human resources, and confidence that key policy commitments will translate into tangible results. This is an area requiring continued close engagement and coordination between the Government and the business community."
Mr. John Goyer, Vice President for Southeast Asia and Oceania at the US Chamber of Commerce, remarked Vietnam is increasingly becoming a vital partner for the US business community and plays a pivotal role in the next phase of US cooperation in Southeast Asia.
A consistent message throughout the conference was that, during Vietnam’s next phase of growth, authorities and the business community must work closely together to elevate the Vietnam-U.S. economic, trade, and investment relationship to a new level—characterized by greater scale, increased benefits, and higher quality and efficiency—commensurate with the deepening bilateral ties between the two nations.
