Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh and Sultan of Brunei Hassanal Bolkiah have agreed to boost cooperation in various areas, including promoting trade growth in a more diverse and balanced direction and seeking opportunities in new cooperation areas such as the digital economy and the circular economy.
During talks in the capital Bandar Seri Begawan on February 11, they spoke highly of the effective development of the bilateral comprehensive partnership in areas such as economy, trade, investment, maritime cooperation, energy, and education and training.
Two-way trade between Vietnam and Brunei rose 134 per cent year-on-year to $725.8 million in 2022.
Prime Minister Chinh suggested that Brunei create favorable conditions for Vietnamese goods to enter the country, especially rice and farm produce that meets Halal standards. He also committed all possible support for Brunei enterprises to do business in Vietnam.
Sultan Bolkiah affirmed that Brunei wishes to continue developing its partnership with Vietnam, especially in economy, trade, investment, education, and agriculture.
