Permanent Deputy Prime Minister Pham Gia Tuc has called on major Chinese corporations to strengthen cooperation and investment in Vietnam in digital technology, transport infrastructure, green energy and railways.
The meetings between the Vietnamese Deputy PM and leaders of Huawei, China Communications Construction Company (CCCC) and China Energy Engineering Corporation (CEEC) took place on September 16 in Nanning, Guangxi Zhuang Autonomous Region, during the Vietnamese delegation’s participation in the 23rd China-ASEAN Expo (CAEXPO) and China-ASEAN Business and Investment Summit (CABIS).
Meeting Will Wang, Huawei’s Asia-Pacific regional vice president and Southeast Asia CEO, Pham Gia Tuc encouraged the group to expand cooperation with Vietnamese agencies and businesses in artificial intelligence (AI), digital infrastructure, next-generation telecommunications, computing, data centres and green energy.
Wang said Huawei wished to continue supporting Vietnam’s digital economy, digital transformation, green energy and high-tech workforce development, while proposing cooperation in energy storage and AI applications.
At a meeting with Yang Yisheng, deputy general manager of CCCC, the Deputy Prime Minister said Vietnam was implementing major projects in roads, railways, urban rail, aviation, seaports and other infrastructure. CCCC expressed interest in transport infrastructure, logistics, seaports, green energy and railway connectivity, including the Lao Cai-Hanoi-Hai Phong route.
Meeting CEEC Deputy General Manager Zhang Deliang, Pham Gia Tuc welcomed the group’s plans to expand investment in renewable energy and green infrastructure in Vietnam. CEEC also proposed cooperation in gas-fired power, new energy sources and power transmission, as well as railway projects linking Vietnam and China.
