$21bln will be invested in transport development around the country.

Vietnam’s transportation sector is expected to fulfill the target of developing 3,000 km of expressways by 2025 after some were recently put into operation and the construction of others kicked off in June, according to the Ministry of Transport.

Two sub-projects in the Eastern North-South Expressway, the Nha Trang - Cam Lam and Vinh Hao - Phan Thiet links, were open to traffic earlier this month, bringing the total length of expressways nationwide to 1,729 km.

Meanwhile, a number of projects are being implemented with a total length of 350 km.

Together with the Ministry of Transport, many localities have carried out projects since early in the year, with a total length of 1,406 km.

Earlier this year, Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh said investment in developing transport infrastructure is a priority in 2023, and an estimated VND500 trillion ($21 billion) in public investment will be prioritized for transport projects.
