Vietnam imports over 173,000 automobiles in 2024

The market witnessing a wave of Chinese automobiles exported to Vietnam.

Vietnam imported 173,561 completely built-up (CBU) automobiles in 2024 with a total value of $3.62 billion, according to the General Department of Vietnam Customs.

The figures represent a year-on-year increase of 45.8% in volume and 27.6% in value.

Indonesia was the largest supplier with 70,728 units, valued at over $1 billion. It was followed by Thailand with 63,769 units, worth $1.24 billion; and China with 31,112 units, worth over $909 million.

The market is witnessing a wave of Chinese automobiles exported to Vietnam with many brands such as MG, Beijing, Haval, Lynk & Co, Haima, Wuling and Chery. Last November, Vietnam imported 17,855 vehicles, including 3,769 units from China, up 44% compared to the previous month.
