Vietnam recorded total trade revenue of $316.65 billion in the first half of the year, down 15.2 per cent against the same period last year, figures from the General Statistics Office (GSO) show.
Exports totaled $164.45 billion, a year-on-year decline of 12.1 per cent.
In June alone, export revenue came in at $29.3 billion, a 4.5 per cent increase against May.
There were 27 products posting export revenue in excess of $1 billion in the first half and accounting for 90.1 per cent of the country’s total. Five posted turnover of $10 billion or more, or 57.8 per cent of the total.
Import value, meanwhile, reached $152.2 billion in the first half, down 18.2 per cent year-on-year.
This resulted in the country posting a trade surplus of $12.25 billion in the period.
The US remained Vietnam’s largest export market, with total turnover of $44.2 billion, while China was its largest import source, with $50.1 billion.
