Deputy Prime Minister Nguyen Chi Dung has proposed ARM Holdings Plc consider opening a representative office in Vietnam and establishing an R&D Center at NIC Hoa Lac to boost business investment cooperation in Vietnam and the Southeast Asian region.
During a recent working session with ARM, the British semiconductor and software design technology group, the Deputy Prime Minister requested the company to support Vietnam in training a team of internationally qualified microchip design engineers and establishing an R&D center in Vietnam.
Recently, ARM has collaborated with Vietnam's National Innovation Center (NIC) to implement semiconductor training activities, such as providing licenses to universities and organizing workshops to develop semiconductor human resources.
Appreciating the Group's global role and position in the semiconductor industry, the Deputy PM welcomed ARM's numerous initiatives to support human resource development, knowledge sharing, and technology cooperation, contributing to the formation of a foundation for Vietnam's innovation and technology ecosystem.
He stated that Vietnam advocates attracting and collaborating with leading global technology corporations like ARM to develop various stages of the semiconductor industry value chain, including human resource training, research and development, technology transfer, and infrastructure construction for manufacturing.
The Deputy PM proposed that ARM strengthen close coordination with NIC and Vietnamese institutes, schools, and businesses to implement ARM's training and certification programs to build a team of internationally qualified microchip design engineers.
He also suggested that the Group support Vietnam in building and developing shared R&D centers and semiconductor laboratories; introduce partners, businesses, and organizations within the ARM ecosystem to explore cooperation opportunities, invest, and expand operations in Vietnam; and share experiences and provide consultation in the process of perfecting policies for semiconductor industry development, technology transfer, human resource development, and building an innovation ecosystem in Vietnam.
