Vietnam and Russia agreed to take measures to promote economic cooperation which is considered a key pillar in the comprehensive strategic partnership between the two sides, State President To Lam told the press after talks with Russian President Vladimir Putin held in Hanoi on June 20, the Vietnam News Agency has reported.
The two sides will continue effectively implementing the free trade agreement with the Eurasian Economic Union (EAEU), of which Russia is a member; and strive to remove obstacles caused by negative impacts of the global economy to boost trade and investment cooperation, he said.
The two sides agreed to continue improving the efficiency of key projects in the fields of energy and oil and gas; and create conditions for businesses of the two countries to operate in line with the laws of the two countries and international laws.
The two sides agreed to soon study and expand cooperation in the fields of new energy and clean energy, contributing to accelerating green transition and sustainable development.
They also agreed to enhance cooperation in other fields such as transportation, science and technology, innovation, education and training and vocational training.
Vietnam and Russia adopted the joint statement which is aimed at deepening the relations between the two countries.
Russian President Putin told the press that this visit to Vietnam by the high-ranking delegation from Russia is aimed at strengthening and enhancing the comprehensive strategic partnership with Vietnam.
The two sides discussed orientations for future development of the traditional relations between the two countries, he said.
He stressed that the free trade agreement between Vietnam and the EAEU, which took effective from 2016, has created favorable conditions for the two countries to get access to each other’s market as well as expand investment.
He said he hoped that this visit would contribute to promoting the bilateral cooperation in all fields.
