Ho Chi Minh City took center stage in the Asia-Pacific technology landscape on May 29 as it hosted the GStar Summit 2026, a premier AI Technology Forum themed “AI and Humanity,” according to a report by the Vietnam News Agency.
The event drew over 1,000 in-person attendees and featured 20 world-renowned speakers from leading tech giants and prestigious research institutes.
Co-organized by the New Turing Institute (NTI) and Pacific Gateway Partners (PGP, the forum aimed to address a fundamental question: How can we build an artificial intelligence framework that truly serves humanity across education, healthcare, finance, language preservation, and community trust?
The forum’s highlight was the presence of scientists and leaders currently shaping the future of global AI. Dr. Thang Luong, Lead Scientist at Google DeepMind—often referred to as a "pioneer of AI chatbots" and a co-organizer of the event—delivered a keynote address titled “From IMO Gold Medals to Scientific Discovery.”
Joining him was Dr. Ed H. Chi, Vice President of Research at Google DeepMind, who presented on “The Future of Universal Personal AI Assistants.” Additionally, Professor Po-Shen Loh from Carnegie Mellon University, the former head coach of the US International Mathematical Olympiad team, provided a groundbreaking perspective on education in the post-AI era.
The summit also saw high-level participation from Vietnam’s Ministry of Science and Technology, alongside executives from Google, Qualcomm, FPT, Grab, MoMo, VinUniversity, and various international research organizations. Specialized discussion sessions focused on critical topics such as safe Agentic AI, AI applications in healthcare and inclusive finance, and digital strategies for language preservation.
Speaking ahead of the event, Dr. Luong emphasized: “GStar Summit 2026 marks a turning point for the AI ecosystem in the Asia-Pacific region. By connecting the world’s leading experts with regional innovators, we are fostering collaborations that have the potential to redefine how AI serves humanity.”
