Minister of Science and Technology Tran Manh Hung has emphasized major orientations, including transforming Vietnam into an innovation hub for ASEAN, the Asia, and the world.

He highlighted the following six key directions when launching the first patriotic emulation movement for the science and technology sector in the new era at the ceremony commemorating the 80th anniversary of the posts and telecommunications sector and the 66th anniversary of the science and technology sector, held on September 29.

First, to develop a knowledge economy based on science, technology, innovation, and digital transformation;

Second, to build technological self-mastery capacity in strategic fields in the spirit of "Make in Vietnam." Today, failure to master technology will mean an inability to safeguard national sovereignty;

Third, to make Vietnam an innovation hub for ASEAN, the Asia, and the world, becoming a startup nation based on digital technology and innovation.

Fourth, to build modern infrastructure and high-quality human resources for the ministry's domains, including: science, technology, innovation, posts, telecommunications, digital infrastructure, digital technology industry, digital transformation, intellectual property, standards - metrology - quality, and nuclear energy. Special emphasis will be placed on artificial intelligence infrastructure, linked with Vietnam's digital sovereignty and digital position;

Fifth, science, technology, innovation, and digital transformation must focus on solving the country's strategic challenges, aiming ultimately to enhance national competitiveness, governance, labor productivity, economic growth, ensure national defense and security, and improve the quality of life for the people. It must contribute at least 50% of double-digit GDP growth. The connection between the three stakeholders: State - Academia - Enterprises, and the honoring of scientists and entrepreneurs, are key to directing science and technology towards solving real-world problems; and

Sixth, science, technology, innovation, and digital transformation are not solely the work of one Ministry or one sector, but a common cause of the nation, of the entire people.

True strength only comes when we connect everyone, walking a long journey together, the minister said, adding that one person innovating has an idea; a million people innovating create an entire future.
