Vietnam welcomed more than 17.7 million international visitors in the first nine months of 2026, up 14.5% from the same period last year, according to the National Statistics Office.
In September alone, approximately 1.77 million foreign visitors arrived in Vietnam.
The nine-month result means Vietnam has achieved nearly 71% of its target of welcoming 25 million international visitors in 2026. Air travel remained the dominant mode of entry, accounting for 83.2% of total arrivals, while 15.4% entered by land and 1.4% by sea.
China and South Korea continued to be Vietnam’s largest source markets, together accounting for nearly 40% of total international arrivals. China ranked first with 3.9 million visitors, or 22.4% of the total, followed by South Korea with 3 million, or 17.3%.
The two markets benefit from large populations, geographical proximity and convenient transport connections with Vietnam, supporting strong visitor flows throughout the year.
Russia ranked third with around 1.1 million arrivals, followed by Taiwan (China) with 964,000 and the United States with 764,000.
Other markets in the top 10 included Cambodia, Japan, the Philippines, India and Australia, highlighting the continued diversity of Vietnam’s international tourism market.
