Vietnamese bought a total of 43 tons of gold in 2022, a year-on-year increase of 37 per cent, the fastest growth in Southeast Asia, according to the World Gold Council (WGC).
Demand for gold in Vietnam in the fourth quarter of 2022 was nearly 14 tons, up 60 per cent year-on-year.
Growth was seen in both gold bars and jewelry, due to rising incomes and stable prices.
Demand for gold bars and jewelry hit 9 tons and 4.5 tons, respectively, in the fourth quarter, year-on-year increases of 48 per cent and 80 per cent.
