Vietnam’s seafood exports reached $1.135 billion in September, bringing the total export value in the first nine months of 2026 to $9.103 billion, up 11.4% year on year, according to the Vietnam Association of Seafood Exporters and Producers (VASEP).
Shrimp remained the country’s leading seafood export, although growth has begun to moderate. September exports were estimated at $467 million, up 3.9%, lifting the nine-month total to $3.75 billion, an 11% increase from the same period last year.
Pangasius exports performed more strongly. September shipments reached about $214 million, up 18.6%, while exports in the first nine months totalled $1.74 billion, representing year-on-year growth of 10.7%.
Tuna exports were valued at approximately $82 million in September, up 13.1%. The nine-month total reached $716 million, an increase of 3.5% compared with the same period in 2025.
In terms of export markets, China and Hong Kong (China) emerged as the strongest performers. Seafood exports to these markets reached about $315 million in September, up 39.9%. Cumulative exports during the first nine months reached $2.3 billion, up 33% year on year and accounting for roughly one-quarter of Vietnam’s total seafood export value.
