The Military Industry and Telecoms Group (Viettel) has set a target of becoming one of the top 60 global defense companies by 2030.

The goal was revealed by the Group at a working session with Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh on high-tech research and production activities in the fields of military, telecoms infrastructure, and civilian products on March 4.

Viettel aims to be among the top 80 leading defense businesses in terms of export revenue for national defense products by 2025.

Prime Minister Chinh said the group has continually invested in research and development activities, helping create a telecoms industry and ensuring safety in the development of a digital government, a digital economy, and a digital society.

He instructed Viettel to play the core role in the building of a high-tech defense industry complex and the development of civilian device production to help turn Vietnam into an industrialized country, efficiently serving national digital transformation, maintaining its role in leading the digital transformation process, building national databases, and enhancing telecoms and cyber security.
