The number of workers in the FDI sector has continually increased, especially in production fields that apply high technology, according to the Ministry of Labor, Invalids and Social Affairs (MoLISA).
There were 1.44 million workers at FDI enterprises in 2010, which increased to 3.78 million in 2016, for a 1.75-fold rise. As of the end of 2022, their number stood at 5.09 million, a 1.35-fold increase from 2016.
The sector attracts some 360,000 workers annually.
The FDI sector has also indirectly generated many jobs in the supporting industry or other enterprises in the supply chain of FDI enterprises.
Reports from localities show that the number of foreign workers at FDI enterprises is also on the rise, particularly those in science and technology, electronics, services, and education and training.
As of October, some 132,381 foreigners were working at FDI enterprises.
