Localities around Vietnam have announced a list of 63 projects that meet requirements to access loans from the government’s credit package of VND120 trillion ($4.89 billion) for the development of social housing projects, according to the Ministry of Construction (MoC).
In 27 cities and provinces, these projects sought loans of nearly VND28 trillion ($1.14 billion) in total.
Five of them have disbursed VND416 billion ($16.97 million).
The MoC plans to hold a conference this month to encourage localities to work to complete the construction of 130,000 social housing units in 2024, as directed by the Prime Minister.
The target is part of the government plan to build at least 1 million social housing units for low-income earners and workers at industrial parks during the 2021-2030 period.
Some 1,249 land plots, totaling 8,390 ha, have been zoned off for the construction of social housing nationwide, according to the ministry.
