7.6 mln foreign tourists arrived in 5M

Vietnam welcomed nearly 7.6 million international tourists in the first five months of 2024, a year-on-year increase of 64.9%, according to the Vietnam National Authority of Tourism.

In May alone, the number of international arrivals reached nearly 1.4 million, up 51% year-on-year, the Government News has reported.

Key source markets included China, South Korea, Taiwan (China), Japan, the US, Cambodia, India, Thailand, Australia and Malaysia.

Meanwhile, the number of domestic tourists was estimated at 52.5 million during the five-month period.

Revenue from accommodation and catering services in the reviewed period was estimated at VND296.3 trillion ($11.64 billion), an increase of 15.1% over the same period last year,  while travel tourism revenue totaled an estimated VND24.2 trillion (more than $950 million), marking a year-on-year rise of 45.1%.
