The Golden Dragon Awards is an annual event held by Vietnam Economic Times since 2001 to honor foreign enterprises posting impressive achievements in production and business activities and, this year, those with sound strategies to operate in Vietnam under effective ESG (environment, social, governance) actions.

The Awards are one recognition of AB InBev’s ESG efforts. This is the direction to the future for each of us, to create something new to approach every moment in life. A future where each employee at AB InBev, each partner of AB InBev, each customer, and the community constantly dreams bigger and spreads their cheers to those around them and create a meaningful resonance for the entire world. AB InBev believes that with those cheers, beer is the best catalyst.

“We are honored and proud to receive an award for ‘Leading ESG Performance’ at the Golden Dragon Awards,” said Mr. Truong Van Toan, Legal and External Affairs Director at the Anheuser-Busch InBev Vietnam Beer Co., Ltd. “The award will encourage us to continue our efforts and continue to contribute to the development of the local market. We will also apply the right ESG standards to bring cheers not only through our products but also through ESG activities full of opportunities and challenges. From Vietnam, AB InBev hopes to spread the dream of ‘To a Future with more cheers’ that has been nurtured for centuries throughout Southeast Asia.”

Our cheers always come with responsibility on the journey to sustainable development

ESG was born a long time ago, but Covid-19 presented an opportunity for businesses to invest in and comply more with the concept. Though under pressure from all sides, AB InBev balances economic benefits with ESG benefits.

A typical success in ESG practices is the community program “Global Smart Drinking”, held in 2022 and recording many impressive results. Beer is always present at every fun event, such as friend gatherings, class meetings, family parties, and birthday parties. Beer is a catalyst to help sublime emotions and balance work and life. Beer also adds flavor to food. However, in Asian cultures, beer is associated with negative images, as the cause of traffic accidents, domestic violence, and much pain for Vietnamese families.

Understanding our social responsibility in general, the message of “Enjoy beer responsibly - Don’t drive after drinking beer because someone needs you”, has spread to more than 3 million different target audience groups, from students to white-collar workers and other employees. These people have been constantly reminded of positive messages and signed a commitment that “If you drink beer, do not drive”, only enjoy beer when you are of legal age, and enjoy each beer in its own way. This journey is committed by AB InBev to bring cheers to participants as well as build social responsibility for the health and safety of Vietnamese consumers.
