Airbus will strengthen its commitment to expanding its supply chain in Vietnam as a part of the company’s ongoing efforts to optimize operations and better serve customers, Ms. Hoang Tri Mai, Managing Director of Airbus Vietnam, told the Vietnam Aviation Forum in Hanoi.

Ms. Mai affirmed that Vietnam is considered a country with substantial potential thanks to its highly skilled and motivated workforce, vibrant manufacturing sector, and good infrastructure. Airbus sees opportunities to tap the country’s growth potential and drive economic growth in the region.

“Vietnam has made significant progress in recent years and we are delighted to contribute to this continued development,” she went on. “Airbus is working closely with local companies on new orders relating to the production of aircraft parts, to meet the strong growth of our supply chain.”

Airbus’ existing partners in the field of aircraft components manufacturing include Artus (Meggitt) Vietnam in Ho Chi Minh City, which provides electromechanical equipment for the A320, A330, and A350.

Another partner, Nikkiso Vietnam in Hanoi, manufactures composite structures for the A320 Sharklet and components for the A330neo and A350.

Local airlines have more than 220 Airbus aircraft, with a further 110 to be delivered.

The expansion of Airbus’ supply chain in Vietnam will contribute to the country’s economic development, particularly as the local aviation industry employs 2.2 million workers and contributes $12.5 billion to GDP, or 5.2 per cent.

As Vietnam’s ecosystem prepares for the gradual introduction of Sustainable Aviation Fuels (SAF), Airbus has led the way in solutions to ensure a more sustainable future for aviation. This was achieved not only through the introduction of a new generation of more fuel-efficient aircraft but also by optimizing aircraft operations by applying the air traffic management expertise and techniques of Airbus subsidiary Navblue.

“Airbus is proud to play an important role in the fast-growing aerospace industry in Vietnam, and we look forward to strengthening our partnerships with relevant organizations in the country,” Ms. Mai added. “The supply chain expansion commitment demonstrates its confidence in the future of the aviation industry.”
