Alstom has been present in Vietnam for more than 30 years now and has actively participated in the country’s infrastructure development. It has contributed to the modernization of Vietnam’s railway signal and telecommunications systems, and supplied core electrical and mechanical (E&M) equipment for Hanoi’s Metro Line 3 (Nhon - Hanoi Station), the 8.5-km elevated section of which began commercial operation in August 2024.

Mr. Henri Poupart-Laffarge, CEO of Alstom, expressed the company's desire to accelerate the implementation of Phase 2 of Hanoi’s Metro Line 3, Ho Chi Minh's Metro Line 2, and other new metro lines until 2035, with a long-term vision to 2045.

Especially, Alstom also has a strong interest in participating in the high-speed North-South railway project in Vietnam, the Alstom leader noted, adding tha the company is ready to share its high-speed rail technology and collaborate with Vietnamese enterprises to support the development of a national railway industry.

Welcoming these proposals, Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh emphasized that cooperation with France plays an important role in implementing new railway projects in Vietnam. The Prime Minister called on Alstom to coordinate with Vietnam's Ministry of Construction (MoC) and relevant Vietnamese enterprises and agencies to translate the proposals into concrete actions.

The Prime Minister urged Alstom, with its experience in Hanoi’s urban railway projects, to accelerate the pace and enhance the effectiveness of cooperation in the near future. He also proposed that the company facilitate technology transfer, offer concessional loans, and support the training of high-quality human resources for the railway sector in Vietnam in the coming times.
