Mr. Veer Sagar, Chairman of India’s Electronics and Computer Software Export Promotion Council (ESC), emphasized that Vietnam is an important partner in India's supply chain diversification strategy and expected to enhance connection with Vietnamese enterprises, particularly in the fields of electronics, embedded software and auxiliary industry.
Addressing a recent online seminar held to discuss potential cooperation between Vietnam and India in the electricity and electronics sectors, he also spoke highly of the cooperation potential between the two countries, particularly since the ASEAN–India Free Trade Agreement (AIFTA) took effect in 2010.
Meanwhile, Mr. Vinod Sharma, Managing Director of Deki Electronics and Chairman of the Indian Industries Association in Uttar Pradesh, stressed that India needs support from partners like Vietnam, not only in production but also in technology, training and technical standards, in order to fulfill the electronics sector’s target of generating 5 million jobs in the next five years.
Ms. Do Thi Thuy Huong, a member of the Executive Board of the Vietnam Electronic Industries Association (VEIA), presented an overview of Vietnam's electronics industry. She noted that the electronics sector is a key exporter of Vietnam, accounting for 35% of the country’s total export revenue. The sector recorded total export turnover of $126.7 billion in 2024.
Vietnam ranks the second in the world in mobile phone export and ranks the fifth in exports of computers and components.
Accordingly, Vietnam can become a strategic partner of India’s supply chain diversification strategy, particularly in the fields of electronics, semiconductor, and high-tech products, she said.
