Speaking at the Bac Ninh Industrial Forum 2026 on November 4 under the theme “Creating a Global High-Tech Supply Chain Hub,” Mr. Dinh Nam Thang, Deputy Head of the Management Board of Bac Ninh Industrial Parks, stated that local industrial zones are entering a new development phase, shifting from simple factory clusters to convergence spaces for technology, innovation, and global value chains.

Northern Bac Ninh province currently has 23 out of 40 industrial zones in operation with over 2,310 active projects. The available clean land bank stands at about 600 hectares and is expected to reach 1,155 hectares by late 2026 to welcome new investment waves.

To realize its vision for 2030 and 2050, the Management Board focuses on three strategic shifts: transitioning from traditional production to ecosystem infrastructure; moving from attracting individual projects to developing industry clusters, aiming for over 700 supporting industrial enterprises by 2030; and shifting from scale-based growth to competing on quality, productivity, and environmental sustainability.

Cumulatively, as of the end of September 2026,  Bac Ninh has attacted  3,705 FDI project, with total registered capital estimated at nearly $52.5 billion, ranking second nationwide, after Ho Chi Minh City.

From an international investor perspective, Mr. Takahiro Kono, Director of Business Development, JETRO (Japan External Trade Organization) Hanoi, provided positive insights into Japanese corporate trends.

A JETRO survey revealed that 56.9 percent of Japanese firms plan to expand business in Vietnam over the next one to two years. In the first nine months of 2026, Japanese enterprises launched 277 new projects in Bac Ninh.

To secure energy infrastructure for high-tech manufacturing, Mr. Pham Van Thinh, Vice Chairman of the Bac Ninh City People’s Committee, stated that the locality is promoting rooftop solar and centralized energy storage systems. By 2028, the local solar capacity is projected to reach nearly 4,000 MW alongside a 1,000 MW centralized energy storage system.

In logistics, the city plans to develop inland ports along the Duong River while accelerating Gia Binh International Airport construction.

In the first nine months of 2026, Bac Ninh’s GRDP grew 11.81 percent year-on-year, ranking fourth nationwide, while industrial production value ranked second. Investment flows into new technology sectors such as AI and semiconductors reached over $4 billion.

Mr. Hoang Quang Phong, VCCI Vice Chairman, emphasized that raising localization rates enables Vietnam to evolve from an assembly location into a regional innovation center. Following administrative mergers, Bac Ninh combines its high-tech industrial base with expanded spatial, agricultural, and eco-tourism strengths to form a multi-polar economic structure.

Ms. Vuong Thi Minh Hieu, Deputy Director General of the Foreign Investment Agency under the Ministry of Finance, added that Bac Ninh’s investment advantages enable it to expand high-tech projects. Linking foreign investment with supporting industries remains essential to increasing domestic added value and elevating Vietnam's position in global supply chains.
