Northern Bac Ninh province led the country in FDI attraction this year, as of July 20, with a total registered capital of nearly $3.2 billion, accounting for approximately 18% of the country’s total, according to the Ministry of Planning and Investment.
The figure represents a three-fold increase in capital compared to the same period last year.
During the period, Vietnam attracted FDI capital of over $18 billion, up 10.9% year-on-year.
Foreign investors invested in 48 provinces and cities out of the total 63.
The FDI growth of Bac Ninh was mainly driven by the capital increase of many major projects. US-headquartered Amkor Technology Inc., which makes semiconductors, increased its investment in its plant in Bac Ninh by over $1.07 billion to $1.6 billion.
Bac Ninh targets to attract $7 billion in FDI this year, according to local authorities.
