Southern Binh Duong province plans to develop a number of eco-industrial parks (IPs), with a target of having at least 20 per cent apply clean production, according to the Provincial People’s Committee.
These IPs will allocate at least of 25 per cent of their land area for trees, infrastructure, and transport, and ensure accommodation and social and cultural facilities for workers.
The province will also develop eco-corridors, with the establishment of a sustainable industrial-urban-service model.
The move was announced by local authorities at a workshop in the province on January 18 with the theme “US-Vietnam Cooperation to Net-Zero, Energy Saving and Decarbonization for Sustainable Industry”.
Workshop participants discussed the development of eco-IPs in Vietnam, promoting green projects in emerging markets, industrial decarbonization, and international financial aid programs.
A representative from the World Bank said IPs have played an important role in reducing carbon emissions. Investment in green IPs would help improve the productivity of businesses operating within their boundaries.
