Con Dao Island in southern Ba Ria-Vung Tau province is set to become a sea island eco-tourism site of regional and international standard under an adjusted development plan for the island to 2045.
The plan was adjusted to make it fall in line with national tourism development orientations, preserve and promote the value of special national relic sites, and meet new requirements in the socio-economic development strategies of Ba Ria-Vung Tau and Ho Chi Minh City.
The move was revealed at a recent conference held by the Ministry of Construction to discuss adjustments to the plan.
Con Dao is expected to welcome 2-2.3 million tourists annually by 2045.
It has a total land area of around 75.78 sq km and a marine area of roughly 140 sq km.
